HC Deb 10 May 1934 vol 289 cc1233-4
16. Sir BASIL PETO

asked the Home Secretary whether he is aware of the intention of the London County Council to reduce the percentage of the profits from Sunday cinema entertainments that shall be applied to charitable objects; and whether he will consider the amendment of the Sunday Entertainments Act, 1932, to provide for a fixed proportion of such profits being applied to charitable objects in future?

Sir J. GILMOUR

I have ascertained that no such proposal is before the London County Council or in their contemplation. The answer to the latter part of the question is in the negative.
