HC Deb 03 May 1934 vol 289 cc482-3
54. Major Sir HERBERT CAYZER

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what prospects there are for short-service or medium-service Royal Air Force officers on retirement from the active list obtaining appointments in the Colonial police through the agency of the Air Force Officers' Employment Association; and how many of these officers have received such appointments during 1933 and the first three months of 1934?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

Close liaison has existed for many years between the Air Force Officers' Employment Association and the Department of the Colonial Office responsible for recruitment for the Colonial Service. A certain number of ex-Royal Air Force officers were selected for Colonial police appointments before the commencement of the present period of financial stringency, and the claims of such officers will continue to be given careful consideration whenever opportunity occurs in the future. No ex-Royal Air Force officers have been appointed during the period referred to in the second part of the question.
