HC Deb 02 May 1934 vol 289 cc312-3
48. Mr. HALL-CAINE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will consider instituting an inquiry into the practicability of imposing some new forms of taxation on the large sums of money which are annually sent out of this country in respect of the rental of foreign films?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

The question of amendment, in such manner as may be necessary or expedient, of the law relating to taxation is constantly engaging my right hon. Friend's attention, and he does not at present consider it necessary to institute any special form of inquiry on the topic to which my hon. Friend refers.

Mr. HALL-CAINE

Would the hon. Gentleman be willing to receive suggestions as to how this object can be achieved?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

Yes, Sir, we shall be very grateful for suggestions.
