HC Deb 01 May 1934 vol 289 c133
25. Mr. STOREY

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he can now make a statement upon the steps he proposes to take to assist British shipping to meet foreign subsidised competition?

39. Mr. D. G. SOMERVILLE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he anticipates that it will be possible to make a statement as to the measure of assistance which the Government proposes to give to the shipping industry before the Whitsuntide adjournment?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I cannot add anything at present to the reply I made on this subject on the 24th April. Discussions are still proceeding with the various organisations.
