HC Deb 01 May 1934 vol 289 c148
64. Mr. ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has yet received the views of the police authorities of Scotland on the publication of a police gazette in Scotland on the same lines as that issued by Scotland Yard?

Sir G. COLLINS

Of the 48 police authorities, 43 have agreed to participate in the scheme, three have refused to participate, and two have not yet submitted final replies. Looking to the large majority in favour of the scheme steps are being taken to institute the gazette referred to.

Mr. ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

Could the right hon. Gentleman give the names of the two authorities who have failed to submit replies after all these months?

Sir G. COLLINS

I should prefer not at the moment. I hope that with a little further delay we may secure a unanimous scheme.

Mr. MACQUISTEN

Is there any need for a police gazette so long as we have the "News of the World"?
