HC Deb 01 May 1934 vol 289 cc135-6
32. Mr. HALL-CAINE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the fact that, although the total amount of bacon imported into this country from Denmark and other sources fell in quantity to 1,900,410 cwts. in the first quarter of 1934 compared with 3,031,375 cwts. in the first quarter of 1932, the value of such imports actually rose from £7,270,151 to £7,645,009, he will now consider whether the present quota system of limiting these imports could be revised so as to ensure that greater benefit will result either to the British revenue or British bacon producers from this increase in the value of bacon?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I would refer to the answer I gave to a similar question by my hon. Friend on 20th February to which I have nothing to add.
