HC Deb 01 May 1934 vol 289 c134
27. Mr. BERNAYS

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether any licences have been issued by the Government for the export of arms to Germany since the meeting of the Disarmament Conference in 1932; and, if so, for what quantities and descriptions of arms?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

No licences have been issued.

22. Mr. MANDER

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will state in general the reasons why seven applications for licences for the export of arms were refused during the years 1930 to 1933?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

The applications were refused on the advice of the Foreign Office and Service Departments that the export of the arms to the intended destinations would not be in the national interest.

Mr. MANDER

Can the right hon. Gentleman say what was the destination?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

No, Sir.
