HC Deb 26 March 1934 vol 287 cc1623-4
28. Mr. T. SMITH

asked the Postmaster-General whether his attention has been drawn to the action of certain continental radio stations in broadcasting on wave-lengths not authorised by the Lucerne plan; and whether, as such broadcasts are creating confusion amongst regular broadcasting stations, it is proposed to take any and, if so, what action on this matter?

The POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Sir Kingsley Wood)

Since the reply given on the 1st February to a similar question by my hon. Friend the Member for Deptford (Mr. Hanley), European broadcasting authorities have discussed, in conference at Geneva, the possibility of modifying the Lucerne plan in some respects in order to overcome the practical difficulties which have arisen in applying it. The recommendations made by this conference, which have only recently been received, are now under consideration by my Department and the other Government Departments concerned.
