HC Deb 22 March 1934 vol 287 cc1377-8
32. Mr. HARCOURT JOHNSTONE

asked the Minister of Agriculture what methods he intends to adopt in order to utilise his grant of £750,000 to clear herds from disease; whether he will assist in establishing tubercle-free herds by a grant towards the cost of testing and inspection of accredited herds under the marketing scheme; whether the county agricultural committees are expected to co-operate with (him; and whether any part of the grant will be available for strengthening the county veterinary staff for the purpose of eradicating disease?

Mr. ELLIOT

The questions raised by the hon. Member are under consideration both by the Departments concerned and by the Cattle Diseases Committee of the Economic Advisory Council. I am not in a position to make a statement.

Mr. JOHNSTONE

Will the right hon. Gentleman let me know when his inquiries are complete so that I may put down the question again?

Mr. ELLIOT

Yes, I will do my best.
