HC Deb 22 March 1934 vol 287 c1381
41. Mr. LYONS

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will now consider the increase of the British requisite in the quota of cinematograph films for public exhibition?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I cannot see my way to adopt my hon. and learned Friend's suggestion for the amendment of the Cinematograph Films Act.

Sir ADRIAN BAILLIE

May I ask the right hon. Gentleman whether he cannot reconsider the quota of our cinematograph films, not merely as regard footage, but as regard quality; in other words, the cost of production?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I will look into the suggestion; I cannot promise more than that.
