20. Captain STRICKLAND

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that the London Passenger Transport Board contemplate the provision of a large number of electrical trolley vehicles for substitution for tramway cars; and whether, as a number of firms with factories in different parts of Great Britain have experience in the manufacture of this type of vehicle, he will give an assurance that the board will, in the public interest, invite tenders for the supply of such vehicles?

22. Mr. MOREING

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that the London Passenger Transport Board have entered into a contract with the Associated Equipment Company, Limited, for the supply by that company of 90 per cent. of the board's requirements of road vehicles for a period of 10 years; whether a copy of this contract will be made public; and, if not, whether any information is available as to the class and description and number of vehicles to be supplied to the board under the contract?

26. Mr. MALLALIEU

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that the London Passenger Transport Board have placed orders for electric trolley vehicles without inviting tenders; and whether in future tenders will be invited before further orders for vehicles are placed by the board?

Mr. STANLEY

I would refer my hon. Friends to the replies I gave to similar questions by my hon. Friend the Member for County Down (Mr. D. D. Reid) on 19th March, of which I am sending them copies.

Captain STRICKLAND

Does not the Minister think a very grave injustice is being inflicted on manufacturers owing to this monopolistic company?

Mr. STANLEY

No, it is all provided for in the Act of Parliament.
