HC Deb 21 March 1934 vol 287 c1205
33. Mr. WILLIAM NICHOLSON

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware that, in view of the heavy expense in providing cloches for the forcing of strawberries, etc., a renewed application from the Swanick and District Fruit Growers' Association asking for an increased duty on early strawberries has been put before the Import Duties Advisory Committee; and whether he will press the matter for their immediate consideration?

Captain Sir GEORGE BOWYER

I have been asked to reply. My right hon. Friend was not aware of the circumstances mentioned in the first part of my right hon. Friend's question, but as regards the last part, it would clearly not be proper for him to attempt to put pressure on the committee.
