HC Deb 19 March 1934 vol 287 cc852-3
26. Mr. ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

asked the Minister of Agriculture the number of stallions standing at the National Stud at Tully, County Kildare; how many outside mares they have served; and the total fees collected for 1932 and 1933, respectively?

Mr. ELLIOT

Two stallions stood at the National Stud in 1932 and 1933; two mares were served in 1932, and 18 in 1933, and the fees earned were £47 5s. and £714, respectively.

Mr. ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

In view of the unsatisfactory state of affairs disclosed by these figures, will the Minister consider the desirability of bringing the National Stud to this country, either in whole or in part?

Mr. ELLIOT

Not only have I considered that point, but I answered a question on it a few days ago.

Captain HEILGERS

Will my right hon. Friend consider bringing it to New-market, which is the national home of racing?
