§ 20. Mr. NOEL LINDSAYasked the Minister of Transport whether he will institute an inquiry into the reorganisation of the port and harbour system of this country, with special reference to the relations between dock undertakings and railway companies and to the standardisation of charges?
Mr. STANLEYQuestions such as those to which my hon. Friend refers would appear to be for the consideration, at any rate in the first instance, of harbour authorities themselves.
§ Mr. LINDSAYIs it not a fact that the authorities concerned are pressing for an inquiry such as is indicated in the question?
Mr. STANLEYI know that a gentleman connected with one harbour has circulated a paper to that effect, but beyond that I have not got that information.
§ Mr. LINDSAYBut is it not a fact that the views expressed in that paper coincide with those of the majority of dock and harbour authorities?
