HC Deb 05 March 1934 vol 286 c1530
29. Miss HORSBRUGH

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office why it has been decided that Broughty Ferry Castle is to be no longer a flag station of the Scottish Command; and will he reconsider this decision, bearing in mind that this privilege has been enjoyed for nearly a hundred years?

Captain AUSTIN HUDSON (Lord of the Treasury)

I have been asked to reply. The decision referred to is consequent upon the reorganisation of coast defence arrangements in Great Britain under which Broughty Ferry Castle is no longer a station for regular troops.

Miss HORSBRUGH

Will visitors be able to see Broughty Ferry Castle, as has not been possible in the past?

Captain A. HUDSON

Perhaps the hon. Member will communicate with the Financial Secretary about that.
