§ 10. Mr. HANNONasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he can make a statement on the latest developments in the relations between Austria and Germany, in view of the recent declaration of policy of His Majesty's Government?
§ Sir J. SIMONI have no special information of recent developments in the relations between Austria and Germany.
§ Mr. HANNONWould the right hon. Gentleman say whether there has been a softening of asperity between the two countries since the policy of His Majesty's Government was declared?
§ Sir J. SIMONI do not think that I can give an addition to my previous answer in regard to that. It is very dangerous to answer these questions without careful consideration.
§ 12. Colonel WEDGWOODasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs 1517 whether His Majesty's representative in Vienna has made any representations to the Foreign Office about Mr. Citrine's recent visit to Vienna, of which His Majesty's Government was made officially aware?
§ Sir J. SIMONThe answer is in the negative. Mr. Citrine has, so far as I know, not visited Vienna since October.
§ Colonel WEDGWOODMay we take it that the statement that appeared in the Press recently as made by M. Jouhaux is not only entirely without foundation, but is based solely upon his own vivid imagination?
§ Sir J. SIMONI believe that that is the case.
