asked the Minister of Health what steps he is taking to stimulate the provision of a water supply in the village of Washington?

My right hon. Friend has recently sanctioned a loan of £7,125 for a scheme of water supply for an area including this village.

Is it not the case that Governmental stimulation of the use of water has recently been proved to be an entire failure in Washington?

I would refer my hon. Friend to the statement made by my right hon. Friend during the Debate on the Ministry's Estimates. The recent rains have not been sufficient materially to affect the general position.
