§ 40. Mr. MITCHESONasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish a return showing on a comparable basis the total expenditure on revenue account out of public funds, both local and national, for each of the last 10 financial years, with an estimate for the present year and including in past years expenditure met by loan which is now met out of revenue?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINI do not consider that the expense of a separate return would be justified but I will cause such figures as are available to be published in the OFFICIAL REPORT as soon as the necessary calculations have been completed. I fear, however, that it may not prove practicable to meet my hon. Friend's wishes fully as to the inclusion of local expenditure.
