§ 49. Mr. KIRKWOODasked the Minister of Transport if he is aware that the Perth town council by a majority has decided to sell the municipal transport services to a private company despite the opposition of the ratepayers, who signed a petition against the transfer; and will he consider the advisability of holding a public inquiry with a view to preventing the sale of a public service to a private company, which is part of a large semi-monopoly in Scotland in which the railway companies are financially interested?
§ The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of TRANSPORT (Lieut.-Colonel Headlam)My hon. Friend has seen some mention of this matter in the Press, and when he has more information he will communicate with the hon. Member.
