HC Deb 07 June 1934 vol 290 c1078
52. Mr. HALES

asked the Minister of Transport whether it is intended that the reduction in the tax on motor cars and motor cycles shall be applicable to three-wheeled motor vehicles?

Lieut.-Colonel HEADLAM

The proposed reductions in the rates of licence duty will not apply to three-wheeled vehicles not exceeding 8 cwts. in weight unladen, which are already taxed at the low rate applicable to tricycles.

Mr. HALES

Is the hon. and gallant Gentleman aware that there has been a very rapid development of this class of vehicle, and is there any reason why they should not share equally in the concession given to four- or two-wheeled vehicles?
