Mr. CHORLTON

(by Private Notice) asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will give an assurance that in the negotiations with the Indian Government for a trade agreement the considered opinion of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce will be taken into account, and also the views of other trade bodies concerned, both for cotton and for other industries.

Yes, Sir. Representative trade interests have already been consulted on the questions now under discussion with the Government of India and my right hon. Friend will be happy to consider any further representations from the Manchester Chamber of Commerce or any other trade body concerned.
