HC Deb 30 July 1934 vol 292 c2252
6. Mr. T. SMITH

asked the Secretary of State for India whether the life of the provincial legislatures in India has been prolonged in exercise of the powers vested in the governors; and in how many provinces this has taken place and for what period?

Sir S. HOARE

In all provinces except Burma and the North-West Frontier Province the life of the provincial legislatures has been extended. In Assam and Bengal there have been three extensions of 12 months, and in the other provinces one such extension.
