HC Deb 30 July 1934 vol 292 c2288
95. Mr. TINKER

asked the Minister of Health the figures for Lancashire of the number of persons in work, gainfully occupied, in 1921 to 1930, and the latest figures at the present time; and will he give the percentages that they represent to the population of Lancashire?

Mr. SHAKESPEARE

The only available figures are those of the Census of 1931, when the number of gainfully occupied persons of 14 years of age and over, excluding persons out of work, in Lancashire county and the associated county boroughs was 2,153,658, representing 42.7 per cent. of the total enumerated population of those areas.
