§ 17. Mr. DAVID GRENFELLasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware of the failure of the Housing (Financial Provisions) Act, 1933, to provide sufficient houses to be let at reasonable rents for working people in the Llwchwr Urban Council area, and in the industrial districts of South Wales generally; and whether he will introduce a Measure to grant financial assistance to local authorities to enable houses to be built and to satsify the urgent demand for houses of this type?
Sir H. YOUNGNo local authority in South Wales has submitted proposals for action under Section 2 of the Act of 1933. As regards the last part of the question,:[would refer the hon. Member to my observations made in the course of the recent Debate on the Estimates of my Department.
§ Mr. GRENFELLHas the right hon. Gentleman received a resolution from the council protesting that assistance has not been extended to them and that they are unable to proceed with the building of suitable houses because of the want of assistance
Sir H. YOUNGI am unable to identify the resolution to which the hon. Gentleman refers. Perhaps he will put down a specific question.
