HC Deb 24 July 1934 vol 292 c1649
50. Mr. JOEL

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury which of the Government Departments are arranging at the present time for films to be made of their activities; and whether he can give any details?

Mr. COOPER

As the answer is some- what long, I will, with my hon. Friend's permission, circulate the particulars in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

Following are the particulars:

Excluding films made for scientific or research purposes, or for purely instructional use inside the Fighting Services, the following films are in course of pro- duction for the Departments named:

Department and Subject.

Ministry of Agriculture:

Market Gardening.

Post Office:

Department of Scientific and Industrial Research:

Radio Research* (five or six parts).

* This film is being made without charge to the Department.

It is the practice of the Service Departments to allow commercial film companies facilities, usually in return for a fee or royalty, for the production of films incorporating scenes of service life, etc. A few films of this kind are in course of production.
