HC Deb 24 July 1934 vol 292 cc1652-3
28. Mr. T. SMITH (for Mr. T. WILLIAMS)

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether any regulations have been issued to local educational authorities relating to technical education in elementary schools; if so, can he state the industries that are covered by such regulations; and will he make those regulations available for hon. Members?

Sir WALTER WOMERSLEY (Lord of the Treasury)

I have been asked to reply. My Noble Friend assumes that the hon. Member has in mind the various forms of practical instruction given in public elementary schools. Such instruction is of a general, and not of a vocational, character, and no special regulations have been made by the board for it. The hon. Member may find the information given in Table 17 on page 117 of the board's recently published report for 1933 of interest.
