§ 2. Major-General Sir ALFRED KNOXasked the Secretary of State for India what reply the Government has given to the notification of the Aga Khan to the Government of India of his desire to possess an estate in India?
§ Sir S. HOAREMy hon. and gallant Friend is presumably referring to a question asked in the Indian Legislative Assembly, which has been reported in the Press. I have nothing to add to the reply which was given, which was that a confidential communication was received from His Highness the Aga Khan but Government was not in a position to disclose its nature.
§ Sir A. KNOXIs there any other prominent supporter of the White Paper policy who has asked for an estate in India?
§ Sir S. HOAREI do not see the relevance of that supplementary question. If it is meant to cast an aspersion on the motives of the Aga Khan, I am sure the whole House will say that it is entirely misplaced.
