HC Deb 18 July 1934 vol 292 cc1088-9
25. Lieut.-Colonel MOORE

asked the First Commissioner of Works the total numbers of offences and convictions for exceeding the speed limit in the Royal parks for the first, six months of this year in comparison with the first six months of 1933?

The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Ormsby-Gore)

During the first six months of 1933 the number of motorists prosecuted for exceeding the speed limit in the Royal parks in the Metropolitan Police area was 1,288, of whom 1,287 were convicted. During the corresponding period of 1934, there were 1,115 prosecutions and 1,069 convictions.

Lieut.-Colonel MOORE

Is my right hon. Friend satisfied that the existing administration with regard to this question is proceeding satisfactorily?

Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

Broadly speaking, I think that it is satisfactory. Certainly the number of convictions in comparison with the number of prosecutions shows that they have not been undertaken without good cause.
