HC Deb 16 July 1934 vol 292 c766
13. Mr. T. SMITH (for Mr. T. WILLIAMS)

asked the Minister of Agriculture particulars of the grants made to wheat growers out of the Wheat Fund since the Act came into operation up to the latest possible date?

Sir WALTER WOMERSLEY (Lord of the Treasury)

Payments aggregating about £4,500,000 were made from the Wheat Fund to some 76,500 registered wheat growers in respect of deficiency payments for the cereal year ended on the 31st July, 1933. As regards the current cereal year, ending on the 31st July, 1934, advance payments amounting approximately to £4,100,000 have been made to nearly 84,000 growers on account of the deficiency payments that will be payable for this year.
