HC Deb 10 July 1934 vol 292 c169
28. Mr. GARDNER

asked the Minister of Health whether, seeing that State-subsidised municipal houses are being occupied by the wrong classes, he can state which municipal authorities are letting municipal houses to the wrong classes; to what extent the alleged practice prevails; and whether he intends to take any action in the matter?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of HEALTH (Mr. Shakespeare)

Since local authorities are under no general obligation to inform my right hon. Friend of the action taken by them, he cannot give the statistical information for which the hon. Member asks in the first and second parts of the question. As to the action intended to deal with a state of affairs that is well known not to be wholly satisfactory, my right hon. Friend cannot anticipate the introduction of the legislation referred to in his reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Winchester (Sir R. Ellis) on the 14th March last.
