HC Deb 09 July 1934 vol 292 cc14-5
22. Mr. JAMES DUNCAN

asked the First Commissioner of Works whether watering of Rotten Row has now ceased; and whether it will accordingly become necessary to close all or part of it to riders until further rain falls?

The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Ormsby-Gore)

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative, and, as inconvenience is being caused during this dry weather to other users of the park by riders, I take this opportunity of appealing to all riders to give up using that part of the Row which extends from Albert Gate to Hyde Park Corner after 9 a.m. each day. If this were done, the many visitors who like to sit in this particular area of the park would be able to do so in greater comfort. I am anxious to avoid issuing formal regulations or prohibitions and hope to secure the co-operation of riders in minimising the effects of the dust upon other users of the park in every way possible.
