§ 2. Mr. GRAHAM WHITEasked the Minister of Labour whether he is now in a position to state when Part II. of the Unemployment Act will come into operation?
§ 4. Mr. THORNEasked the Minister of Labour whether he can state the appointed day under the Unemployment Act?
Mr. STANLEYI cannot say definitely when these dates will be, but every effort will be made to complete the necessary arrangements at the earliest possible date, so that the first appointed day may be fixed shortly after the regulations have been approved by Parliament after its reassembly in the Autumn.
§ Mr. BATEYAre we to understand from that reply that the appointed day is not likely to be fixed until after the House meets in November?
Mr. STANLEYI do not think I am entitled to assume that the House is going to meet in November, but, in view of the immense amount of preparatory work that has to be done, there can be no question of the appointed day before the House rises.
