§ 4. Captain DOWERasked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the fact that the value of apparel imported into this country from Germany for the first five months of 1934 was valued at £1,054, 753, as against £552,413 during a similar period in 1932; and what steps are to be taken to deal with this matter, if any?
§ Mr. RUNCIMANI am aware of the facts to which my hon. and gallant Friend draws attention. It is open to the United Kingdom manufacturers affected to apply to the Import Duties Advisory Committee with a view to an increase in the duties on those classes of apparel in which competition is felt.
