asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education the number of places for boys and girls in the secondary schools of England and Wales, and the number of free places for each sex in each county?

On the 1st October, 1933, there were 244,244 boys and 213,350 girls in grant-aided secondary schools in England and Wales. Of these pupils 121,109 boys and 104,818 girls paid no fees. My Noble Friend is sending the hon. Member a list giving separate particulars in respect of the area of each local education authority.
