HC Deb 29 January 1934 vol 285 c30
48. Mr. WHITE

asked the Prime Minister if it is the intention of the Government to appoint a committee to review the present and future working of the Broadcasting Corporation before the charter of the Corporation next falls to be renewed?

Sir K. WOOD

I have been asked to reply to this question. The Charter granted to the British Broadcasting Corporation does not expire till the 31st December, 1936. As the present Charter has nearly three years to run, it would at present be premature to appoint a Committee to consider whether, and if so in what form, it should be renewed.
