HC Deb 28 February 1934 vol 286 c1097
26. Mr. HALL-CAINE

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will take steps to set aside during this and future years some definite proportion of Road Fund money for the purchase and extinction of toll rights in this country until all remaining toll roads and bridges have been freed?

Mr. STANLEY

I have notified the various highway authorities that I am prepared to give consideration to applications from highway authorities for grants for the acquisition of toll roads and bridges; but I do not think any useful purpose would be served by setting aside a definite proportion of the Road Fund for the purpose.
