HC Deb 27 February 1934 vol 286 c919
14. Mr. ROSS TAYLOR

asked the President of the Board of Trade if an inquiry has been conducted into the circumstances attending the loss of the steamship "Culmore," off Aldeburgh, on 13th December, 1933; and if official notice has been taken of the promptitude, skill, and courage displayed by the crew of the Aldeburgh lifeboat on that occasion?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

The circumstances attending the loss of the steamship "Culmore" on the 13th December last are under investigation. Under the arrangements between the Board of Trade and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution it is left to the latter to deal with services rendered by lifeboat crews and I understand that the institution have made certain awards to the crew of the Aldeburgh lifeboat in recognition of their very gallant attempt to save life on this occasion.
