Captain HEILGERSasked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that on the arrival of an express train from Aberdeen at Carlisle Station it was discovered that three of a vanload of greyhounds were dead and others injured; that the van was not detached from the train at Carlisle, but sent on to Crewe, where it was met by a veterinary surgeon, who destroyed three more seriously injured dogs and treated 16 others; and will he order an inquiry to be made into the matter, with a view to avoiding any recurrence of such cruelty to animals?
