§ Sir H. BETTERTONThe number of wholly unemployed persons aged 18 years and upwards registered at Employment Exchanges in Great Britain at 22nd January, 1934, as applicants for work as musicians was 2,772. I regret that the statistics are not compiled on a basis which would enable me to give the numbers of musicians who have been placed in employment by the exchanges.
