asked the President of the Board of Trade the net tonnage of ships and of cargo passing through the Suez Canal in 1933?

According to figures issued by the Suez Canal Company, the net tonnage, Suez Canal measurement, of vessels, with cargoes and in ballast, which passed through the Canal during 1933 was 30,677,000 tons. The weight Of cargo carried cannot yet be stated, but for the first eleven months of 1933 this amounted to 24,123,000 tons.
