§ 30. Mr. BURNETTasked the Secretary of State for Scotland the amount of the grant made on the Department of Agriculture Vote, 1932–33, towards a biological investigation of the musk-rat; and why it was decided that the investigation should take place at Oxford University and not at a Scottish university or institute of biological research?
§ Mr. SKELTONNo provision was made on the Vote of the Department of Agriculture for Scotland for 1932–33, and no expenditure has been incurred by them for the purpose indicated. I understand that expenditure in connection with the biological investigation referred to is met by a grant from the Vote of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.
§ Mr. BURNETTIs it not the case that grants in connection with Oxford University are stated in the Appropriation Accounts?
§ Mr. SKELTONThat question must not be addressed to me.
§ Mr. HENDERSON STEWARTMay I ask if any success has attended this special investigation, which is rather important to Scotland?
§ Mr. SKELTONThat question should be asked of the Minister of Agriculture.
§ Mr. BURNETTIs it not the case that biological research is specially engaged in in the Scottish Universities, particularly at Aberdeen?
