HC Deb 06 February 1934 vol 285 c956
54. Mr. ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether it is proposed to set up a Scottish Housing Corporation on the lines recommended by the Departmental Committee on Scottish Housing?

Mr. SKELTON

The recommendations of the committee, including the proposal to set up a Scottish Housing Corporation, are receiving careful consideration, but my right hon. Friend is not yet in a position to make any announcement on the matter.

Mr. BOOTHBY

Can my hon. Friend give us an assurance that in considering this matter he is not prejudiced or bound in any way by legislation which is being passed for England?

Mr. SKELTON

No legislation on this topic has yet been passed in either country, and the report of the Scottish committee will be considered exclusively on its merits.
