HC Deb 05 February 1934 vol 285 c791
27. Captain HEILGERS

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether it is intended to continue the work of the agricultural camps committee during the summer of 1934?

Mr. ELLIOT

The Agricultural Camps Committee is a voluntary body which undertakes the organising of camps of unemployed urban workers for seasonal work on farms. I am not in a position to speak for the Committee but I understand that it is at present considering its course of action for the coming summer.

Captain HEILGERS

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the work of this committee was most unsatisfactory last year and that in several cases debts incurred by the committee in the spring of last year have not yet been discharged?

Mr. ELLIOT

I am afraid that I do not wish to discuss the matter at present.
