HC Deb 05 February 1934 vol 285 c805
64. Mr. T. SMITH (for Mr. THORNE)

asked the Home Secretary the reasons for the change in the management of police canteens; and whether there is to be any change in the allocation of the profits?

Mr. HACKING

The primary object of the change is to ensure to the authorities an effective measure of control over the affairs of the canteens while affording to members of the force ample opportunities to make their wishes known as regards any matter affecting them as consumers. Any profits will continue to be used for the benefit of the force as a whole.
