HC Deb 05 February 1934 vol 285 c796
38. Mr. BOOTHBY

asked the Postmaster-General whether he will order the excision in future of all comments on foreign affairs in the programmes of the British Broadcasting Corporation?

Sir K. WOOD

The matter of the scope of the programmes and the discretion of the directors of the British Broadcasting Corporation in relation thereto were recently considered by the House, and such a suggestion as my hon. Friend makes would not be in harmony with the resolution which was then approved by a large majority.

Mr. BOOTHBY

Does my right hon. Friend consider that it is in the national interest that Nazi propaganda should be conducted by officials of the British Broadcasting Corporation?

Sir K. WOOD

If my hon. Friend will send me any information on that matter, I will gladly send it, with his comments, to the directors of the corporation.

Captain CUNNINGHAM-REID

Does my right hon. Friend know whether any complaints have come from foreign countries recently?

Sir K. WOOD

I must have notice of that question.
