HC Deb 05 February 1934 vol 285 c801
60. Mr. BOOTHBY

asked the Minister of Labour what would be the additional cost to the insurance fund of an increase in the allowance for dependent children to 3s. in respect of the first child and 2s. 6d. in respect of the second?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of LABOUR (Mr. R. S. Hudson)

An increase in the allowance for dependent children to 3s. in respect of the first child and to 2s. 6d. in respect of a second child would on the basis of finance assumed from the Unemployment Bill, increase the amount of benefit estimated to be payable by about £1,050,000. This figure does not include transitional payments.
