HC Deb 20 December 1934 vol 296 cc1334-5
59. Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been called to the lack of control by local authorities over the erection or installation of high tension electrical devices; and whether he has yet considered what steps can be taken to remove this danger?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

Overhead high tension electric lines are subject to the regulations made by the Electricity Commissioners for securing the safety of the public, but if the hon. Member would let me know in what respects he considers danger arises, I will look further into the matter.

Mr. DAVIES

Is it not grossly unfair to local authorities in their duty of looking after the interests of the community, that regulations of the Electricity Board can over-ride their rights in this matter?
