HC Deb 18 December 1934 vol 296 c949
18. Mr. DOBBIE

asked the President of the Board of Trade the number and names of the new industries that have been established in Great Britain since the imposition of the new tariffs in 1931; the places where such factories are situated; and the number of workers employed?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. Runciman)

Surveys of industrial development are compiled in respect of calendar years only. The reports on the surveys for 1932 and 1933, copies of which I am sending to the hon. Member, contain the desired information in respect of those years. The particulars for the present year will be published as soon as practicable.

Mr. RHYS DAVIES

Will the right hon. Gentleman in his next report include a table showing how many people have been put out of employment by the tariff policy of the Government in shipping, shipbuilding, cotton and coal?
