asked the Secretary for Mines the number of mine-workers employed in South and West Yorkshire, respectively, on the latest date available, and the comparable figures for 1929, 1930, and 1931?

At the end of November, 1929, 1930, 1931 and 1934, the number of wage-earners on colliery books in South Yorkshire was 118,400, 114,900, 108,200 and 95,100, respectively. The corresponding figures for West Yorkshire were 52,800, 50,600, 50,000 and 43,700.
