HC Deb 06 December 1934 vol 295 c1833
76. Lieut.-Commander AGNEW

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is yet in a position to make any statement as to the provision of a residence for the British Minister in Nanking?

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir John Simon)

Yes, Sir; this matter has been the subject of careful consideration and it is hoped to adapt the house at present occupied by the Consul-General at Nanking for the use of His Majesty's Minister when in residence at that post.

Lieut.-Commander AGNEW

Will other accommodation he found for the Consul-General at Nanking?

Sir J. SIMON

I have no doubt that suitable adjustments are in the mind of the authorities, but I do not exactly know the details.
